Sophie previously worked as a communications specialist for the South West Healthy Livestock Knowledge Exchange project. She then worked as a Digital Marketing Co-ordinator, before returning to the Rural Business School as a Research Assistant for the Agri-tech Cornwall project.

Sophie now works as a Researcher at Duchy College Rural Business School, having progressed from Research Assistant to Researcher since rejoining the Rural Business School team in 2018. Sophie’s work spans a wide range of projects including: coordinating long-running cauliflower variety trials (from planning and planting through to harvest, data collection and reporting); soil sampling and carbon sequestration work for woodland and agri-environment schemes; farm carbon footprint assessments; natural capital assessments and Countryside Stewardship applications; GIS, drone (LiDAR, multispectral, thermal, RGB), passive and static bat and bird detector, and trail camera technologies; baseline ecological surveys; and developing a farmer innovation assessment and planning tool.

Sophie has a joint honours degree in Biological Science and Geography (Swansea University) and an MSc in Biodiversity (University of Plymouth). She is also experienced in digital marketing and has obtained the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing.
